Sindh Public Service Commission (SPSC), Government of Sindh

If you are preparing for the Sindh government’s Combined Competitive Examination (CCE) 2026, the rules have just changed in your favour. The Sindh Public Service Commission (SPSC) has issued Advertisement No. 06/2026, dated 23 October 2026, revising the terms of its earlier consolidated advertisement (No. 04/2026). The upper age limit is now 33 years, candidates get up to 5 attempts over 3 years, and the screening test pass mark has dropped to 33%. Applications stay open online until 11 November 2026.

The CCE is Sindh’s main competitive examination for entry into the province’s officer-level government service. Thousands of graduates apply, a screening test shortlists them, and written papers and interviews follow. Because the revised notice changes who can apply and how the screening test is marked, every serious candidate should read it before the 11 November deadline — even if they already applied under the old rules.

What Has Changed in SPSC CCE 2026?

Rule Before (Adv. 04/2026) Now (Adv. 06/2026, 23 Oct 2026)
Upper age limit Lower than 33 (earlier limit) 33 years
Minimum age 21 years 21 years (unchanged)
Permitted attempts 3 attempts 5 attempts over a period of 3 years
Screening test pass mark 40% (80 out of 200 marks) 33% (66 out of 200 marks)
Negative marking Not specified in the earlier excerpt 0.25 marks deducted per wrong answer
Closing date Earlier date 11 November 2026 (extended)

The changes follow a decision of the Sindh provincial cabinet at its meeting on 20 October 2026. All other eligibility conditions from the original advertisement remain in force — only the items in the table above have been revised.

Who Can Apply Now?

  • Age: Between 21 and 33 years. The higher upper limit brings back candidates who were over-age under the old rules.
  • Attempts: Up to 5 attempts within a 3-year period, instead of 3. Candidates who had already used their attempts under the old rule should check their fresh position under the revised notice.
  • Domicile: Sindh domicile and district quota rules apply, as in the original advertisement. Confirm your quota category on spsc.gov.pk before applying.
  • Qualification: The degree-level and subject conditions of the original Advertisement No. 04/2026 still apply — this notice changes the age, attempts and screening rules only, not the qualification bar. Read the original advertisement alongside the revised notice.

Age-calculation date — please check: current summaries disagree on this point. One summary gives 11 January 2026 as the age-calculation date, while another gives the extended closing date, 11 November 2026. This matters, because it decides whether you count as 33 or over-age on the day. Do not guess: confirm the exact date in the official notice on spsc.gov.pk before submitting, and apply early so a correction is still possible.

Understanding the Screening Test Changes

The screening test carries 200 marks. Under the old rule you needed 80 marks (40%) to pass; under the revised rule you need 66 marks (33%). That is a real difference for borderline candidates. But there is a new cost attached: 0.25 marks are now deducted for every wrong answer. Blind guessing is therefore punished, and careful candidates who skip questions they do not know will do better than before. The smart strategy under the new marking is simple: answer what you know, attempt educated guesses only where you can eliminate at least one option, and leave the rest blank rather than gambling marks away.

The extra attempts matter just as much. Five attempts over three years means a bad day in one screening test no longer ends your CCE journey. Treat each attempt as a learning round: keep your notes, review your weak areas, and return stronger.

Why These Changes Matter

Three groups gain the most. First, candidates aged 31 to 33 who were shut out before are now eligible. Second, candidates who had already used three attempts get a longer runway. Third, candidates who score in the 33–40% band in screening — a large group in any competitive exam — now pass instead of failing. Together, these changes make CCE 2026 the most open Sindh competitive examination in recent years. The trade-off is negative marking, which rewards disciplined preparation over guessing. If you prepare properly, the new rules are on your side.
