What a Vaccinator Actually Does
Give the vaccines safely. The core of the job: administer routine childhood vaccines at fixed centres and outreach sessions, following the EPI schedule, cold-chain rules and safe injection practice.
Keep the record. Every child vaccinated is entered in the register and tally sheet the same day. Accurate records are what let the programme find the children who missed a dose.
Follow up defaulters. When a child misses a scheduled dose, the vaccinator, with the UCIO and Lady Health Workers, traces the family and brings the child back.
Talk to parents. Answering questions honestly, explaining why each vaccine matters, and easing fears — especially in communities where misinformation spreads faster than the facts.
Protect the cold chain. Vaccines only work if they are kept cold. Checking the vaccine carrier, the ice packs and the fridge temperature is a daily, non-negotiable duty.
