About MSF and the HIV Project in Karachi

MSF is an international, independent medical humanitarian organisation that provides medical aid to people affected by armed conflict, epidemics, natural disasters and exclusion from healthcare. It first started working in Pakistan in 1986, and today it provides medical care in Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sindh and Punjab. Its work in Pakistan is funded by private donations from around the world, with no institutional or government contributions.

The HIV Project in Karachi is part of MSF’s work to widen access to HIV testing and care. The project screens people for HIV, supports those who test positive with counselling and referrals, and links them to treatment and to screening for other infections such as tuberculosis, sexually transmitted infections and hepatitis B and C. The nurse in this post is at the centre of that work, meeting patients, carrying out the tests, and keeping every record confidential.

Please note: this is a new single-post listing advertised on 7 November 2026. It is different from an earlier MSF Nurse (HIV) round for 2 posts, advertised on 15 October 2026, which closed on 23 October 2026 and is now deactivated on Rozee.pk. Do not confuse the two rounds — only this new listing, closing 9 November 2026, is open.

What the Female Nurse Will Do

The nurse provides nursing care, treatment and follow-up for patients according to doctors’ prescriptions, MSF protocols and universal hygiene standards. The duties below are drawn from the advertised job description.

  • HIV testing: give brief pre-test information, take informed consent, collect finger-prick blood samples, and carry out HIV rapid testing with Determine and Uni-Gold test strips, following the national testing algorithm and MSF clinical protocols.
  • Patient care: receive patients, carry out care and treatments as prescribed, assist during consultations and daily rounds, and take part in health education for patients and their families.
  • Confidentiality: log every test with the assigned unique code, keep all results strictly confidential, and give non-judgmental care to every client regardless of background.
  • Infection control: follow infection prevention and control standards in the testing area, dispose of used materials in puncture-proof sharp boxes, and manage biohazard waste segregation.
  • Safety: follow needle safety rules, keep the post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP) starter kit at the testing station, and follow the exposure protocol if a needle-stick injury happens.
  • Referrals: screen for clinical signs of co-infection, refer confirmed HIV-positive cases for post-test counselling, and arrange referrals for tuberculosis screening, sexually transmitted infection care and hepatitis B and C services.
  • Protection: identify victims of sexual and gender-based violence and refer them to the medical team, and know the correct use of the PEP kit.
  • Ward and stock duties: supervise administrative procedures and documents, take part in data collection, check pharmacy and medical equipment, monitor the storage and temperature of test kits, and report any problem with a kit at once.
  • Supervision: supervise and train nurse-aids, nutritional assistants, cleaners and other related staff, and make sure teamwork and hygiene standards are kept.

Eligibility Criteria for MSF Nurse Jobs 2026

Why Apply for MSF Jobs

Working with MSF means joining one of the world’s best-known medical humanitarian organisations, with a field presence in Pakistan going back to 1986. The HIV Project in Karachi offers hands-on clinical work that directly changes lives: every test the nurse carries out can connect a person to treatment and care they would otherwise miss. For a nurse who speaks Urdu and Pashto and wants field experience with an international NGO, this is a rare opening, even though it carries a very short deadline.

MSF states that it is an equal opportunity employer and does not charge any application or recruitment fee. Only applications submitted through Rozee.pk are considered, and MSF does not accept applications by email or any other channel for this post.
