What the Strategic Management Unit Does
The Strategic Management Unit is the team that turns the Tourism Department’s plans into delivered projects. It prepares and appraises schemes, manages procurement and contracts, watches over finance and legal work, and keeps tourism sites, heritage buildings and visitor facilities moving forward. The eight senior posts announced first cover leadership, engineering, finance, law and procurement. The 19 posts in this round add the specialist skills the unit still needs.
That is why the mix is so wide. The IT and Digital Transformation Expert and the Digital and GIS Specialist bring the unit’s systems and maps up to date. The Data Analyst and the M&E Officer measure whether projects are working. The Tourism Investment Analyst looks at where tourism money should go. The Heritage and Conservation Expert and the Environmental and Social Safeguard Expert make sure projects protect old buildings and the people around them. And the creative team — content writers, designers, videographers and a video editor — tells the public about Punjab’s tourism sites, while the Drone Operator films them from the air.
Eligibility Criteria for SMU Additional Posts 2026
- Domicile: only candidates holding a valid Punjab domicile can apply.
- Education: the qualification for each post is given in the table above, and it ranges from Matric for the Videographer and Drone Operator posts to a master’s degree for the expert posts. Check your own post carefully, because the required field of study is specific.
- Fresh graduates: the four Research Associate posts welcome fresh graduates with a BBA or BS (Honours), with preference for Business Administration, Economics, Statistics or Public Policy. This is the best entry point in the round for a new graduate.
- Creative posts: the Digital Content, Graphic Designer, Content Writer and Video Editor posts ask for a bachelor’s degree in a design, media or film field, and a relevant certificate is an advantage. A strong portfolio will help.
